Langan, Riester And Benefield Named To D3hoops.com All-Region Men's Basketball Team

Wesley College senior center David Langan, Mary Washington senior guard Bradley Riester and Christopher Newport senior swingman Tra Benefield were named to the D3hoops.com all-region men's basketball team.

Langan was named to the D3hoops.com Middle Atlantic All-Region first team while Reister was a second-team choice and Benefield was named to the third team.

In his final collegiate season, Langan, who was also named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, led the CAC in rebounding (10.9), field goal percentage (62.6%), double-doubles (15) and blocks (1.9) while also ranking third with 16.8 points per game.  Langan, who was also a two-time First Team All-Conference selection, will graduate as the program's all-time leader with 831 rebounds while ranking ninth in points (1,100), second in field goal percentage (57.5%) and third in blocks (124).  Langan led Wesley College (23-4) to its finest season in its history with its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, a program-record 23 wins and a 12-game winning streak.  The Wolverines entered the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll in Week 2 at what was then a program-high 17th, but Wesley did not stop there, reaching as high as sixth in the National Poll.

Reister led Mary Washington to a 25-6 overall record, a second-place finish in the regular season, the CAC playoff championship and three NCAA playoff wins and a berth in the Division III Championship Tournament Elite 8.  Reister, a first-team All-CAC player in 2014, led the Eagles with an 18.0 scoring average and averaged 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.9 assists per game.

Benefield completed his career as the fifth all-time leading scorer in CNU men's basketball history, with 1,794 career points. He is also the eighth all-time leading rebounder, with 749 boards, and has been selected as a first team All-Conference selection in each of the last three seasons. In his senior year, he led the team with 17.8 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game, carrying Christopher Newport to a 19-9 overall record. He became the 28th player in school history to score over 1,000 points and posted 21 double-doubles in his illustrious career.  He became the first player to be named team captain under head coach John Krikorian and held the post the last two seasons
