A trio of CAC basketball teams continue their quests for NCAA Championships this weekend, beginning with Friday's Sweet 16. The Christopher Newport men and women along with the Marymount women aim to win a pair of games to reach next weekend's NCAA Final Four. This marks the second straight year that the CNU men and women have reached the Sweet 16.
On the women's side, seventh-ranked Christopher Newport (27-2) will take on 15th-ranked Hope (24-4) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Ada, Ohio. The winner will take on either No. 5 and host Ohio Northern (29-0) or No. 17 SUNY Geneseo (28-1) on Saturday at 8 p.m. for a spot in the Final Four in Grand Rapids, Mich. It will mark the first-ever meeting between CNU and Hope.
Marymount (24-5) will meet third-ranked St. Thomas (29-0) in Saint Paul, Minn. at 9 p.m. EST. No. 8 Trinity (Texas) and No. 14 Whitman will clash in the other matchup in Saint Paul. The two winners will face off on Saturday at 8 p.m.
