Scarborough Ties For 3rd Place And Leads Wesley To 7th Place In Final NCAA Golf Championship Results

Will Scarborough finished with a one-over 72 in the final round of the NCAA Division III Golf Championships to tie for third place.  No. 24 Wesley College ended the 72 hole event at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia in seventh place as a team.

Scarborough's finish is the best since the Wolverines' Chris Noll won the 2002 NCAA Championship.  The senior from Dover, Delaware tallied six birdies in the final round to move up one spot in the final standings.  Scarborough tied Washington & Lee's Nathaniel James at eight-over, two strokes behind Chris Green of Illinois Wesleyan.

St. John Fisher's Scott Harris led the tournament wire to wire.  Harris entered the day at minus three, but shot a four over to finish one-over for the tournament.  The No. 15 Cardinals were not as fortunate as a team, however, shooting a 306 to drop from first to third.

The slide enabled St. John's (Minn.) to defend its national title, earning the crown for a second straight year after shooting a 291 on Friday.  Redlands finished second at 59-over, three shots off the pace.

Wesley's fourth round 293 was the second best team score of the final round.  All five Wolverines shot in the 70s for the first time in the tournament.

Mike Rushin finished the tournament in a tie for 37th at 21-over.  The senior notched a birdie on the fourth hole on his way to a 76 on the par 71, 7,030 yard Chateau Course.

Andrew Geyer shot his best round of the championships with a 74 on Friday to finish at 26-over.  The Milford, Delaware native birdied three holes in the final round to tie for 55th.

Sophomore Chris Osberg led Wesley on Friday, shooting an even-par 71.  The sophomore birdied three of the first six holes and tallied another before his round was over to finish the tournament at 27-over in a 57th place tie.

With one birdie on Friday, Riley Powers shot a 79 to finish 10th at 38-over.
