Christopher Newport Holds Nine-Stroke Lead Following Day One of CAC Golf Championship; CNU's Jonathan Howard, William Paterson's Frank Herudek Tied For Lead

CAC Golf Championship Results - Day 1  

All five Christopher Newport golfers concluded Friday's first day of the CAC Golf Championships in the top-10, giving the Captains the lead entering Saturday's final round at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, Pa. 

Christopher Newport totaled 299 strokes to take a nine shot lead, followed by Penn State Harrisburg and York in a second-place deadlock at 308. Marymount (318) and William Paterson (327) sit in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Christopher Newport’s Jonathan Howard and William Paterson’s Frank Herudek both fired one-under 71’s to claim a share for the day one lead.

York’s Kevin Long, CNU’s Sam Robinson and Penn State Harrisburg’s Tyler Shank sit three shots back in a three-way tie for third with rounds of two-over 74.

Matt DiSalvo (76) of Christopher Newport is alone in sixth, followed by Penn State Harrisburg’s Tyler Serres, and York’s Matt Stork in a seventh-place tie at 77. CNU’s Tyler Bennett and Patrick Johnson, along with Penn State Harrisburg’s Matt Hoare and York’s Ryan Wolbach round out the top-10 in a four-way tie for ninth at 78.

A CAC Champion will be crowned at the conclusion of Saturday’s final round at Dauphin Highlands.
