Babson's Gianelos Earns CAC Men's Golfer of the Week Honors

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its fourth weekly awards of the 2019-20 men's golf campaign. Babson sophomore Nicholas Gianelos claimed CAC Men's Golfer of the Week after a pair of impressive performances.


GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Nicholas Gianelos - Babson

Babson sophomore Nicholas Gianelos finished under par in three of four rounds to post a 69.5 stroke average and recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in two tournaments last week for Babson. He shot 68-72 to tie for seventh place with a 4-under total of 140 as Babson came in fourth at the Royal Lakes-Oglethorpe Invitational on October 7-8. Gianelos then posted rounds of 68 and 70 to finish second overall at the Saratoga National Invitational. His 36-hole total of 6-under 138 was the best of his collegiate career and helped Babson finish just one shot behind NYU in second place.

LEAGUE NOTES

Carnegie Mellon's Jason Li turned in a career event and broke three school records: carded rounds of 69. 66 and 71 – Lowest Round 66 – Lowest Two-Round 135 – Lowest Three-Round 206. He finished fifth with a seven-under 206 in a field of 90 golfers at the 2019 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Tuesday on the par 71, 6,725-yard Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida. In nine rounds this season he has carded even-par or lower in six....Southern Virginia junior Niko Vui finished tied for fourth place at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational after carding a 74 for the day trailing the leader by just three strokes on the Par-71, 6,474-yard course. The competition comprised 63 total golfers and 12 teams...Christopher Newport freshman Alex Price led the Captains thrilling come-from-behind finish to win the VSGA Intercollegiate this week when he tied for fifth with an Even par 144 (73-71). Price logged his third under par round in four career rounds played with a one-under 71 in the second round. His late birdie helped propel the Captains into a playoff with Lynchburg that they would go on to win for CNU's first victory since 2017. Price scored a tournament-high 28 pars in the event.
