Carnegie Mellon's Raymond Li Captures CAC Men's Golfer of the Week Honors

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its fifth weekly awards of the 2019-20 men's golf season. Carnegie Mellon freshman Raymond Li claimed CAC Men's Golfer of the Week after matching a school record.


GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Raymond Li - Carnegie Mellon

Freshman Raymond Li of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team helped the Tartans to a top place finish at the 22-team O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford College on The Cardinal by Pete Dye Course in Greensboro, North Carolina, October 28-29. The freshman placed second individually in a field of 120 golfers after carding a 36-hole score of 139. Li opened play with a two-over par 73 before tying a school record with a five-under par 66 on Tuesday to closeout play. In both rounds, Li posted an eagle on hole 10. For the memorial, he recorded five birdies and two eagles. Li currently ranks second on the team with a 73.5 average as the Tartans fall season comes to a close.

LEAGUE NOTES

Junior Joshua Marseille shot his best round in a New Jersey City University uniform, carding a +7 score of 78 to finish eighth overall, pacing the host Gothic Knights to a fifth place team finish at the inaugural New Jersey Collegiate Cup on October 24. NJCU hosted the first-time championship at The Forest Hill Field Club, the Gothic Knights' new home 18-hole course, featuring six of the eight NCAA Division III men's golf programs in New Jersey. The par-71 course measured 6,547 yards from the blue tees. Marseille shot in the 70s for the first time in his first season on the course for NJCU, one of nine players on the day to shoot a sub-80 round. Marseille shot a 39 on both the front and back nine. While he did not birdie a hole, he played safe all day, finishing with 11 pars and seven bogeys...Nicholas Gianelos claimed medalist honors in back-to-back tournaments as 20th-ranked Babson closed out the fall with a pair of victories. He shot 72-73 to post a 1-over 145 for a two-shot win over a 108-player field at the 85th NEIGA Championship back on October 21. Gianelos followed it up with rounds of 68-72 to finish with a 36-hole total of 4-under 140 to record a three-shot victory at The Atlantic Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday.
