INTRODUCING ... Marymount University Junior Men's Lacrosse Attackman Chris Wascak
Marymount University junior Chris Wascak, this week's CAC INTRODUCING ... featured student-athlete, has been one of the leading goal scorers on the Saints attack for the past three years, scoring 70 career goals.
What is your background in the sport you play? I started playing lacrosse in the 7th grade because I didn’t want to play baseball anymore.
What is your favorite spot on campus? It would have to be the training room because it seems like I spend my whole season in there.
Other than your team, what organization (s) do you participate in? Some members of our team participate in unique charity events such as Happy Hats, where we make hats for young children with leukemia. I also coach lacrosse camps and lessons for younger kids in the summer time.
What is the most important societal issue facing college students? The biggest issue right now is trying to find a job and support yourself financially following graduation. So many people are struggling to make ends meet even though they have a respectable degree.
What is your major in college, and what is the most important thing you learned in that discipline? I am a health science major. The one thing anybody can take from this field of study is, to take care of your body. You can be the most successful or happy person, but without a healthy lifestyle all of that does you no good.
Other than your family members, who was the most influential person in your life? It would have to be my first lacrosse coach Cliff Willey. I was new to the sport when everyone else had been playing for years. He took me under his wing and brought me back up to speed with everyone.
If you could give one piece of advice to elementary school children, what would that advice be? LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS! I butted heads with my parents just as much as the next person, but it took me till the end of high school to realize that they wanted what was best for me and would do anything to help me out. I’d like to think I turned out alright.
What is your favorite form of entertainment? I love watching sports, especially during this time of year with March Madness (even though Maryland is out).
Outside of the Capital Athletic Conference, who or what is your favorite sports person or team? My favorite team has always been the Green Bay Packers. My favorite player in any sport right now has to be Andray Blatche, the center for the Washington Wizards.
Name three (3) people, real or fictional, living or dead, that you'd like to have dinner with? Without question, I’d like to have dinner with Brett Favre to find out why he really left the Packers, the late great rapper Notorious B.I.G., and my teammate Thomas Anderson back when he was in high school.
