NCAA MEN'S LACROSSE: Salisbury Defeats Rival Washington (Md.) College 13-8 to Earn Spot in National Championship Game

The No. 2 Salisbury men's lacrosse team defeated No. 5 Washington (Md.) College 13-8 in the NCAA semifinals Sunday night at Sea Gull Stadium, earning a berth in the national championship game.

With the win, the Sea Gulls (21-1) will meet No. 6 Tufts (20-2) on Sunday, May 25 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at 1 p.m. Tufts handed top-ranked Rochester Institute its first loss of the season, 21-11, to advance to the title tilt.

Trailing 3-0 with time winding down in the first period, the Sea Gulls scored three straight goals to even the score and eventually took a 6-5 edge into halftime.

Following the intermission, it was all Salisbury as the Sea Gulls outscored the Shoremen 7-3 in the second stanza, including 3-0 in the decisive third quarter.

Mike Kane and Sean Fitzgerald each recorded hat tricks for the Salisbury attack, while Rhett DePol added two goals and an assist and Adam Stork scored twice.

Goalkeeper Alex Taylor earned the win for Salisbury, recording eight saves.
