Salisbury's Knute Kraus Leads Group of Seven CAC Men's Lacrosse Players on ECAC Mid-Atlantic All-Star Squad

Complete Mid-Atlantic All-Star Team 

Salisbury senior Knute Kraus headlined a group of seven CAC men's lacrosse players named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic All-Star team on Monday. 

Kraus was honored as the ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and was joined by teammate Thomas Cirillo on the first team. Landing on the second team were Salisbury's Preston Dabbs and Marty Wallace along with Frostburg State's Devin Colegrove, Chris Rios and Zack Burkhardt

Kraus led Salisbury's second-ranked scoring defense, which only allowed 5.82 goals per game on the season and was named to the ECAC first team. He paced the team with 29 caused turnovers on the season, while finishing fourth on the team with 50 ground balls. Kraus started all 22 games for the Sea Gulls this season. Cirillo finished the season second on the team with 62 points. He played in all 22 games this season and finished second on the team with 42 goals and 20 assists, while leading the Gulls with 12 man-up scores. The man up tally ranked sixth in the country.

Wallace and Dabbs were mainstays on the Salisbury defensive unit. Wallace appeared in all of Salisbury's 22 games and finished the year second on the team with 28 caused turnovers, while adding 40 ground-ball pickups. Dabbs also played in all 22 games, leading the team's defensive midfield. He ranked fourth on the team with 25 caused turnovers, while adding 20 ground balls. Dabbs also added seven points on one goal and six assists on the year.

As three of Frostburg State's five captains, Colegrove, Rios and Burkhardt picked up the honor after a stellar year on the field as they helped the Bobcats to a 16-3 overall record and advanced to the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Game for the first time in program history. All three were named to the 2015 All-CAC First Team in May.

A Timonium, Md. native, Colegrove led the Bobcats with 71 points behind 29 goals and 42 assists and picked up 39 ground balls. He also led the conference in assists and finished second in points. Colegrove currently ranks first in program history in points (222) and assists (125), third in goals (97) and fourth in ground balls (201).

Rios, a Katonah, N.Y. native, finished fourth on the team with 52 points (28 goals, 24 assists) and finished third on the team with 51 ground balls. As a crucial part of FSU's midfield, Rios helped the Bobcats rank eighth in the nation with a 7.11 scoring margin. Rios, a 2015 USILA DIII All-American,  currently ranks second in the FSU record books in assists (76) and ground balls (209), third in points (166) and caused turnovers (38), and is fourth in goals scored (90).

Burkhardt, hailing from Baltimore, Md., was a key member of the Bobcats' defensive unit that was fifth in the nation in clearing percentage (0.891) and sixth in the nation with just 6.16 goals allowed per game. Individually, Burkhardt picked up 32 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers on the season. A three-time All-CAC selection, he currently ranks first all-time at Frostburg with 121 caused turnovers and seventh with 152 ground balls. Burkhardt was recently named a USILA DIII All-American and a USILA DIII Scholar All-American for the 2015 season.
