Four-Time CAC Champion York Picked As Host For First Two Rounds Of The 2012 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament

For the eighth consecutive season, the York College men's soccer squad has earned a trip to the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament as the brackets were announced Monday afternoon by the NCAA.

The Spartans, who earned an automatic bid courtesy of Saturday's record-breaking Capital Athletic Conference championship win over Mary Washington, have earned the right to host a pair of first round matches and a second round match on Saturday and Sunday.

The Spartans face St. Joseph's of Long Island while Rutgers-Camden will play Medaille in the other first round game. The Spartans enter the tournament with a record of 17-2-2 while the Golden Eagles are 13-9. St. Joseph's earned their way into the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 win over Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.) in the Skyline Conference championship game on Sunday. The Golden Eagles were the top seed in the tournament.

Rutgers-Camden comes into the NCAA tournament with a mark of 16-2-2 as they defended their New Jersey Athletic Conference title with a 3-0 win over Rowan in the tournament finals. The Mavericks of Medaille are 17-2 having won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title with a 1-0 win over Penn State Behrend on Saturday.

Game times for the week will be announced later on Monday afternoon. Saturday's winners will square off on Sunday with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line.

The Spartans have won the Capital Athletic Conference's automatic berth in each of the last four years en route to their eight straight NCAA Touranment appearances. Graham Field is familiar to hosting NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament games as the Spartans hosted in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and now in 2012.
