YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Matt Greene and Southern Virginia junior Efren Gutierrez were honored as the CAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 2. 

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior Matt Greene earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling two goals and four assists in the Sea Gulls' two games at the Elmer Lord Classic. In Friday's contest against Patrick Henry, the senior captain set a career high in points with six in just 13 minutes of playing time, scoring two goals and adding two assists. On Saturday against Brockport State, he helped rally the Sea Gulls back from a 2-0 deficit, connecting on two passes to senior Tanner East to guide Salisbury to a 2-2 tie through two overtimes. Greene was honored as the tournament MVP for his efforts.  

Defensive Player of the Week

Southern Virginia junior Efren Gutierrez was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after posting a shutout in net in his first career start for the Knights. Gutierrez, a transfer from BYU, tallied six saves in Southern Virginia's 1-0 triumph over Ferrum on Saturday.

York is #11 and Salisbury #19 in the NSCAA Preseason Rankings ... All seven Christopher Newport goals scored in the opening weekend were put away in the second half ... Conor Noguiera scored his first collegiate goal with just four seconds remaining as Mary Washington edged Eastern Mennonite, 2-1, on Friday ... Emmanuel Oppong picked up a hat trick in his collegiate debut as St. Mary's posted a 12-0 victory over Patrick Henry for its first win of the season ... Wesley defeated Shenandoah and Cabrini to capture the title at the Cabrini Labor Day Kick-Off Tournament. The Wolverines are 2-0 for the first time since 2008.
