Mary Washington’s Francesconi, Rogers Sweep C2C Men's Soccer Players of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2023 men's soccer season. Mary Washington's Gabe Francesconi earned C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Eagles Freddy Rogers was named C2C Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gabe Francesconi, Mary Washington

In No. 2 Mary Washington's win over Salisbury on Saturday, Gabe Francesconi scored a goal and added an assist in the 5-0 victory. He scored the Eagles' fourth goal of the game, while assisting on the team's second score of the day. In all, he recorded three points in the win and nearly had a brace with a shot that hit off the bottom of the crossbar. He applied some of the most pressure the Seagulls faced -- leading the Eagles in shots with four total.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Freddy Rogers, Mary Washington

In No. 2 Mary Washington's lone game of the week, Freddy Rogers held Salisbury scoreless in the 78 minutes he played in the 5-0 victory on Saturday. Rogers, an England, United Kingdom native, participated in the Eagles' seventh shutout of the season. He saved three shots, while Salisbury launched a total of seven.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

In his first game back after nursing an injury, Jacob Mouille scored a goal and recorded an assist in the 3-1 Wisconsin-Whitewater victory over Concordia-Moorhead, Mouille took 5 shots with three on goal, competing in 56 minutes of the contest… Adrian Jacobs scored team-leading eighth goal of the season on an 18-yard blast with under two minutes left as UC Santa Cruz salvaged a tie at William Jessup… Salisbury freshman Jake Trama netted his first career goal (the eventual game-winner) to sink No. 25 Christopher Newport on Oct. 18 ... Put his lone shot on goal vs. Mary Washington on Oct. 21 as well… Christopher Newport's Jason Laviola scored the game-winning goal at Washington and Lee ... Put two of his three shots on-goal during the week… Nolan Ehlers was a key piece in controlling the defensive end for Wisconsin-Whitewater, not allowing a single Cobber shot on goal in the second half with his aggressive defense play. The Warhawks only allowed five Concordia-Moorhead shots on goal in the 3-1 victory… Will Barba played all 90 minutes as UC Santa Cruz held William Jessup to just two shots in the second half and helped salvage a 1-1 tie on the road… Carter Tillman scored his first collegiate goal on a free kick from Pratt's defensive end in Saturday's home match against Centenary. He also finished with nine saves in the losing effort and with 13 saves in two matches on the week.
