The University of Mary Washington women's swim team has won all 18 Capital Athletic Conference championships since the inception of the conference in 1991. The UMW men's swim team has won 14 championships in the 18-year history of the CAC, including eight straight. The Eagles are the favorite to extend those streaks when the 2009 CAC Championship is held Feb. 13-15 at St. Mary's College, Md.

Salisbury junior MIKE FERRARI (Columbia, Md./Atholton) was selected the CAC Mens Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after recording a pair of first-place finishes in Saturdays meet vs. Catholic. Ferrari touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:22.50), then doubled by winning the 100 backstroke (1:11.38).

Mary Washington sophomore STEPHEN CLENDENIN (Ashburn, Va./Home schooled) was selected the CAC Mens Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after taking top honors in three individual events in Saturdays 11-point victory over non-conference rival Gettysburg. Clendenin, the 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year, swept the 1,000 freestyle (10:18.67), 200 IM (2:01.67) and 200 butterfly (1:58.32) as UMW improved to 6-1 in dual meets this season.

Mary Washington junior JUSTIN ANDERSON (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) was selected the CAC Mens Swimming Athlete of the Week after winning five gold medals in two days as the Eagles improved to 5-0 against CAC competition. Anderson took top honors in the 400 IM (4:29.64) and was on a pair of victorious relay teams in UMWs win Friday at Marymount. Saturday, at home against St. Marys, Anderson captured gold in the 100 freestyle (49.66) and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay team (3:21.34).
