Mary Washington Senior Stephen Clendenin Takes 8th in 200 IM at NCAA Championships

Stephen Clendenin (Ashburn, Va., Home
Schooled) finished in eighth place in the 200 individual
medley in the finals at the NCAA Division III Championships in
Knoxville, Tenn., on Wednesday.
Clendenin, who was seeded 10th prior to
the championships, had the third best seed time after morning
preliminaries, breaking his own CAC and school record with a time
of 1:50.67. In the evening finals, he took eighth overall with a
time of 1:51.28.
Also in the morning prelims, junior Billy Norfolk (Fairfax, Va., Chantilly) also swam a lifetime best in his event, the 500 freestyle. Norfolk bettered his lifetime best by a second in going 4:45.95, which placed him 30th overall.
