Mary Washington Extends Lead With Six Golds on Day Two of CAC Men's Swimming Championships

Saturday's Results 

Alex Anderson and Tyler Gimple each claimed their second golds of the weekend as Mary Washington extended its lead on the rest of the field with six gold-medal finishes on day two of CAC Men's Swimming Championships at St. Mary's on Saturday. 

Mary Washington holds a firm grasp on first place with 634 points, followed by York (361.5), St. Mary's (352), Salisbury (265.5), Marymount (240) and Frostburg State (136). 

Mary Washington opened day two with a victory in the 200 medley relay as the team of Sean Mayer, Vance Solseth, Dallas Tarkenton and Henry Bassett earned the win with a time of 1:32.13. 

Anderson then turned in the fourth fastest time in the 400 IM in NCAA Division III history, capturing his second gold of the 2014 championships with a CAC championship meet record of 3:52.63. 

Mayer took first in the 100 butterfly at 50.39, followed by Gimple's gold-medal performance in the 200 freestyle at 1:42.62. 

York's Kyle Walthall broke the UMW streak with a triumph in the 100 breastroke, marking the second straight year he has claimed top honors in the event. Walthall touched in 55.80 to set a new CAC record, topping a mark that had stood since 2006. 

Mary Washington then closed out the day's events with a pair of wins as Bassett clocked a CAC record time of 50.26 in the 100 backstroke, before the 800 freestyle relay squad of Anderson, Solseth, Nate Moyar and Gimple claimed victory at 6:51.21. 

The third and final day of the CAC Championships begins with Sunday morning's trials at 10 a.m., concluding with the finals at 6 p.m.
