After a stellar career as a Salisbury University student-athlete, Brendan Kincaid made his way from the court to the sideline as an assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis teams. On Friday, his hard work was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as he was named both the National Assistant Coach of the Year as well as Atlantic South Region Coach of the Year. 

Kincaid's guidance led to highly successful seasons for both teams, as the No. 19-ranked men's team finished the regular season with a 14-7 record and the women finished with a 13-3 record.

Additionally, seniors Evan Thomas (Salisbury, Md.) and Scott Burtzlaff (Clarksville, Md.) finished out their Sea Gull careers on Friday afternoon in NCAA tournament action. Kincaid and Burtzlaff were doubles partners back in 2008; together they competed in the 2008 NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championships. For their outstanding play throughout the season, they were ranked as the 17th-best team in the country.

Additionally in 2008, Kincaid was named the 11th All-American in the history of the SU tennis program as he finished his senior season ranked 20th in the country in singles; it marked the first time in eight years that a Salisbury University men's tennis player was honored with All-America status. He was also named the ITA Senior Player of the Year in the Atlantic South Region.
