St. Mary's Men's Tennis Wins Twice Over The Weekend To Gain The #2 Seed In The 2012 CAC Playoffs

The St. Mary's men's tennis team defeated Salisbury Friday and Stevenson Sunday to nail down the No. 2 seed in the 2012 CAC championship tournament, which begins Sunday, April 22nd.

SMC edged Salisbury Friday, 5-4, then shut out Stevenson Sunday to improve to 17-3 overall, 6-1 in the CAC.

Defending champion Mary Washington (13-9, 7-0 CAC) had already clinched the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will join SMC on the sidelines with first-round byes.   The Eagles and Seahawks will host tournament semifinal matches on Tuesday, April 24.

Third-seeded Salisbury (9-9, 5-2 CAC) and fourth-seeded York (9-7, 4-3 CAC) will host first-round playoff matches on Sunday (4/22).

Frostburg State (9-8, 2-4 CAC), Stevenson (5-8, 2-5 CAC) and Hood (2-11, 1-5 CAC) are alive in the chase for the final two playoff berths.  FSU plays at Hood Tuesday (4/17) to close out conference play.

If FSU wins, the Bobcats will be the fifth seed and play at York while Stevenson will be the sixth seed and travel to Salisbury for first-round playoff matches.

If Hood tops FSU, a coin toss will be needed to determine the final two playoff berths between FSU, Stevenson and Hood.
