Mary Washington Claims Second Straight C2C Men’s Tennis Championship

Mary Washington captured its second straight and 26th overall Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Men's Tennis Championship by defeating UC Santa Cruz, 5-3, on Sunday at James River Country Club in Newport News, Virginia.
The Eagles (10-9) dropped all three doubles matches, but rebounded to win the first five singles decisions.
UMW got on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win by Brock Ladehoff at four over Praneet Varade, and Rishi Charan Shankar followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win at one over Lucas Chen. Andrew Watson scored a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 win at two over Andre Mardirossian, and Artis Hart scored a 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over Sam Hall at three. That set the stage for Peter Leese, who scored a 6-4, 6-3 win at six over Aziz Albayouk for the clinching point.
