Salisbury Takes Day One Lead at CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Salisbury grabbed the day one lead at the 2015 CAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship following Saturday's competition in York, Pa.

The Sea Gulls totaled 38 points, holding a slight lead over York (28) and Christopher Newport (27) after four events. Frostburg State (10), Wesley (10), Mary Washington (8) and Penn State Harrisburg (3) also nabbed points on day one. 

The men competed in the triple jump, shot put, javelin and 10,000 meters on Saturday, while the prelims of the 110 hurdles, 100 meters and 200 meters were also held. The pole vault was delayed to Sunday at 10 a.m. due to darkness. 

Christopher Newport's Dominique Torres posted his second straight triple jump title at 46'-11.50", while Salisbury's Dylan Burkett won the shot put (53'-05.00"), York's Robert Doster claimed gold in the javelin (192'-05") and CNU's Charles Pruitt won the 10,000 meters at 34:06.34. 

In the 100-meter prelims, Salisbury's Tyler Austin set a new CAC championship record with a time of 10.53. 

Sunday's final day of action begins at 10 a.m.
