Salisbury's Luke Campbell and Tyler Austin Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Finals

Tyler Austin and Luke Campbell of the Salisbury men's track & field team qualified for the finals of their respective events on Friday at the Merrick-Pinkar Complex in Canton, N.Y. 

Both Austin and Campbell advanced to the final day of the championships in the 110-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, respectively.

Campbell started things off by winning the second-of-three preliminary heats in 14.23 seconds, posting the second best time of the preliminaries. Campbell took an early lead in the race, being the first to each hurdle, winning by .06 seconds in a close finish with Aurora Bobby Cooks.

Austin then followed in the first heat of the 100-meter dash preliminaries. He finished fourth in the race with a 10.90-second time, good for seventh overall in the preliminaries.

With the two qualifying efforts, Salisbury will now have athletes in seven events for the finals, with eight total Sea Gulls competing.

Also competing in the 110-meter hurdles was Wesley's Matt Bundy, who finished 13th at 14.92. Wesley's Patrick Schlosser placed 19th with 5,384 points in his most recent decathlon performance. 

On the women's side, Christopher Newport's Logan Harrington placed 11th in the 800 meters with a makr of 2:02.99. Enuma Ezenwa of CNU took 20th in the 100-meter hurdle prelims and 21st in the heptathlon, while Jennifer Westerholm took 15th place with a mark 4,402.
