Salisbury's Campbell Claims Two National Titles, Becomes Most Decorated Track & Field Athlete in Division III History; Wesley's Simpson, 4x100 Relay Take Home Gold

Saturday's third and final day of the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships was an eventful one for CAC student-athletes, with a total of four national titles secured among CAC competitors.

Headlining the day was Salisbury senior Luke Campbell, who captured individual titles in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles to close out his career as the most decorated athlete in Division III track & field history. Campbell's titles on Saturday raised his career total to 11, giving him the most national championships in the history of NCAA Division III. Campbell won the 110 hurdles in 13.93 seconds and the 400 hurdles in a stadium record time of 50.52.

The wins mark the third-straight season that Campbell has swept the hurdles national championships by grabbing both hurdles events for the outdoor season and the 60-meter hurdles title in the indoor season.

Campbell also teamed with Zach Schmelz, Eric Halton, and Jerel Madison to finish eighth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:17.90, earning All-America honors.

Joining Campbell as an individual gold medalist on Saturday was Wesley freshman Anthony Simpson, who won the 100-meter dash in 10.68. The Wesley 4x100 relay of De'Vaughn Trader, Simpson, DaJahn Lowery, and Greg Taylor also came away with gold, racing to the national title in a DIII Championship and CAC record time of 40.01.

The two national championships are the first and second in program history for the Wolverines. With the two first place finishes combined with Trader's sixth-place finish in the long jump on Thursday, Wesley amassed 23 points as a team, marking the team's highest point total at the NCAA Championships in program history.

On the women's side, the Wesley 4x400 relay of Elizsha Streeter, Quadira Minus, Briana Artis, and Angel Hall claimed third place with a time of 3:45.59.

Frostburg State's J.R. Lowery capped his junior season with an 18th-place finish in the hammer throw. Lowery threw 171'-8.25" on his second attempt to place 18th out of 20 competitors.
