Salisbury Freshman Ryan Jackson, The CAC Rookie Of The Year, Selected To Compete In NCAA Cross Country Championship Meet

Sunday the NCAA announced the field for the 2010 Division III Cross Country Championships, to be hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 20. The announcement brought the exciting news that Salisbury University runner Ryan Jackson will get to continue his outstanding freshman campaign as he qualified for the event. The men's race will begin at noon, eastern time.

Jackson finished 26th at the Mideast Regional in Slippery Rock, Pa., on Saturday; he was named to the All-Regional Team and the All-Regional Freshman Team, with a time 26:00.3.

Jackson, who was the Capital Athletic Conference individual champion and named the 2010 CAC Men's Rookie of the Year, will be the only CAC representative on either the men's or women's side in the championship meet.

The freshman is the first Salisbury representative at Nationals since 2007 when Eric Graves qualified for the event and finished 160th. Jackson will be looking to earn Salisbury's second All-American award, the first came in 1985 when Scott Schefler earned the honor.
