St. Mary's and Salisbury Men's Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors; Salisbury's Burke Receives Individual Award

The St. Mary's and Salisbury men's cross country teams were awarded All-Academic Team honors for the 2014 season from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association, announced Wednesday.

Additionally, Salisbury senior Thomas Burke was named an All-Academic athlete, one of 246 men to earn the All-Academic honor. To receive the accolade, athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and have finished in the top 25 percent of finishers at their regional championships. Burke placed 29th in the Mideast regional on Nov. 15, 2014, racing in a time of 25:51.2.

The Seahawks and Sea Gulls were two of 152 men's teams to be honored with All-Academic status this season.

Programs must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.10 or greater and competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each in the 2014 season.

Salisbury posted a 3.12 team GPA, while St. Mary's boasted a 3.12 GPA.
