10 From CAC Named NFCA All-Region; Christopher Newport Leads Way With 5 Selections

Ten CAC softball players have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, announced Tuesday. CAC champion Christopher Newport led the way with five of the 10 all-star selections.
Five players were named to the Mid-Atlantic Region first team - Salisbury junior LeAnne Collins and junior second baseman Annie Pietanza, Christopher Newport junior Rachael Payne, Frostburg State junior Sam Gatton, and Wesley sophomore Ashley Royer.
The five first-team honorees are now eligible for the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet on May 24 in Oklahoma City.
CNU junior Leah Andrews and Wesley senior Nina Marcano earned second-team recognition, while the CNU trio of senior Rachel Shiflett and freshmen Aubrey Bates and Grace Wild secured third team honors.
