The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of the 2024 softball season.  Salisbury's Abby Mace claimed C2C Player of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Jamie Martin earned C2C Pitcher of the Week merit.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Abby Mace, Salisbury

Abby Mace slashed .444/.583/1.111 with a double, triple, home run, five RBIs, six runs scored, and three stolen bases in the Sea Gulls' trio of victories over Messiah and Rochester for the weekend. In the season opener against Messiah on Friday, Mace rocked the go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth that put Salisbury on top to stay. In the second Sunday game against Rochester, she finished a homer shy of the cycle and plated three.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jamie Martin, Christopher Newport

Martin improved her record to 2-0 with a complete game shutout at Averett on Sunday. She struck out eight and scattered six hits, including five singles, and did not walk a batter as the Captains posted a 5-0 victory.

HONORABLE MENTION

PLAYER: Jodie Penman, Mount Mary; Candace Slaw, Christopher Newport

PITCHER: Nicole Ortega, Salisbury

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Jodie Penman had a strong start for Mount Mary, with five hits and 4 RBI in three games. She was three for four in the Blue Angels loss to Elmhurst with two runs scored… Candace Slaw continued her amazing freshman season start by going five-for-nine in a Christopher Newport doubleheader sweep Sunday at Averett. The CNU leadoff hitter scored three runs and stole three bases in the twin bill, and now has 12 hits in 17 at bats over four games, all won by the eighth-ranked Captains… Salisbury's Nicole Ortega won both of her starts against Messiah and Rochester, posting a 1.91 ERA over 11 innings. She held 18th-ranked Rochester to one run over six innings on Sunday.
