MMU’s Allen, CNU’s Martin Receive C2C Softball Weekly Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2024 softball season.  Mount Mary's Sam Allen was named C2C Player of the Week, while Christopher Newport's Jamie Martin earned C2C Pitcher of the Week honors.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sam Allen, Mount Mary

Allen had an outstanding six games at the plate hitting .750 (9-for-12) with two doubles, seven RBIs and 10 runs scored.  She helped the Blue Angels to a 5-1 week with four wins over Maranatha Baptist and a split versus Alverno.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jamie Martin, Christopher Newport

Martin stretched her consecutive scoreless innings string to 28 in a five-inning victory at York College of Pennsylvania. The junior lefty threw the first four, allowing just one single and striking out 10 while walking two. She improved her record to 8-1 on the season with the road victory.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Emily Stockman hit .545 with two doubles, one run, two RBIs, and a 1.272 OPS during Salisbury's doubleheader sweeps of Mary Washington and Shenandoah. Stockman also recorded 16 putouts and a pair of fielding assists from the catching position, throwing out one would-be base stealer... Candace Slaw was four-for-eight in a doubleheader sweep by Christopher Newport at York College of Pennsylvania. The freshman leadoff hitter posted three singles and a double, drove in a run, scored twice, and stole two bases in the twin bill that extended the eighth-ranked Captains winning streak to nine games… Brianna Lupa has cemented herself as Mount Mary's all-time leader in wins, strikeouts, ERA and complete games. She pitched 14 innings on the week, allowing two runs with 26 strikeouts and six walks… Sydney Adolfson recorded a pair of relief wins and posted a 1.17 ERA to help Salisbury beat Mary Washington and Shenandoah over the weekend. On Saturday against UMW she tossed two scoreless no-hit frames with two strikeouts. On Sunday at Shenandoah Adolfson finished the final four innings of one-run, three-hit ball with two more punchouts.
