UCSC’s Anderson, CNU’s Ntiganzwa Garner C2C Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Recognition

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 11th week of the 2023-24 track and field season. UC Santa Cruz's Eric Anderson was named C2C Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while Christopher Newport's Dante Ntiganzwa earned C2C Men's Field Athlete of the Week distinction.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Eric Anderson, UC Santa Cruz

Anderson set a pair of school records at the Bryan Clay Invite. In the 1,500-meters, he posted the fifth best time (3:48.58) in Division III this season.  Anderson won his heat in 800-meters with time of 1:50.64, placing fifth overall in field full of Division I and II athletes, and recording a top-10 time in DIII.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dante Ntiganzwa, Christopher Newport

Ntiganzwa posted the conference's top effort of the year in the hammer throw on Friday evening during the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic at Lynchburg. In the event, the senior notched a victory after setting a new PR with a 52.03-meter launch. That marked the third-longest throw in school history and finest toss in the league this year by over seven feet.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Christopher Newport's Daniel Fox took over the league-lead in the 100 after starring in the race during the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic on Saturday at Lynchburg. In the event, he crossed the line in 10.76, marking his top effort of the season and the fastest time in the conference in 2024. He also threw down his best mark of the year in the 200 with a time of 21.86 and ran the second leg on CNU's 4x100-relay, which finished in 43.37. That ranks second in the conference this season… Junior Jacob Lohr led Mary Washington at the Dennis Craddock Invitational this weekend, as he finished first in the 5000 meters, with a time of 15:29.15… Salisbury's Kai Smith authored a pair of podium finishes at the Delaware State Invitational, winning the 400 meters in 48.91 seconds and taking third in the 200 meters at 21.43 seconds… UC Santa Cruz's Grant Nyhus placed first in the long jump (6.43m) and second in high jump (1.75m) at the Chuck Buettner Twilight meet. He set a PR in high jump… Salisbury's Jacob Reeves placed top-six in three throwing events at the Delaware State Invitational. He won the hammer throw with a personal-record mark of 47.87m (157-1) while placing second in the javelin throw (47.01m, 154-3) and sixth in the discus throw (39.53m, 129-8).
