A two-time Delaware State Lacrosse Player of the Year and All-American at St. Andrew's School, Heidi Pearce Yetman has been named the new head women's lacrosse coach at Wesley College, it was announced by Athletic Director Mike Drass on Friday afternoon.  Pearce Yetman replaces Debbie Windett, who was with the Wolverines since 2010 and has the most victories (28) in program-history.

"I'm excited to take on the new role as head coach of the Wesley women's lacrosse program," said Pearce Yetman. "It's an amazing opportunity for me and one that I am really looking forward to."

A native of Chestertown, Md., Pearce Yetman comes to Dover after spending the last three seasons as the Senior Assistant Coach/Recruiting & Defensive Coordinator at nearby Washington College.  During her tenure with the Shorewomen, Washington College endured its winningest three-year run in program history (34-17), earned its first national ranking in over a decade in 2013, advanced to its first-ever Centennial Conference Championship Game in 2012 and had nine players earn All-CC honors.

"We are excited to bring someone with Coach Pearce Yetman's experience and connections throughout the Delaware and Eastern Shore lacrosse communities to Wesley College," said Drass.

An outstanding midfielder at Division I Johns Hopkins University (2001-04), Pearce Yetman was a two-time All-American and three-time All-American Lacrosse Conference selection.  Twice named the Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week and team captain, she led the Blue Jays to their first-ever Division I NCAA Tournament and was awarded the Cathy P. Cramer Award, given for the most outstanding achievement in women's athletics at Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays career record holder for ground balls, Pearce Yetman was also nominated for the Tewaaraton Trophy, given annually to the top women's lacrosse player in the nation.

"Heidi was one of the best players to come out of our Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse program," said Janine Tucker, Pearce's college coach at JHU and the current head coach for the Blue Jays. "She was a joy to coach and I know she will bring a competitive spirit to the Wesley program."

"As a coach, Heidi is a great teacher of the game and instills confidence in her players. She knows how to develop their skills and will put a tremendous amount of energy into the program," continued Tucker. 

After graduating with a B.A. in Sociology from Johns Hopkins, and ranked in the top ten in points, goals and assists, Pearce Yetman returned to her high school alma mater as the assistant women's athletic director. She went on to become the head women's athletic director, head girls lacrosse coach, and head field hockey coach at the school, serving in those positions from 2005 until 2008. She coached the lacrosse team to three consecutive state championship games, including a state title in 2005, and was recognized with the Achievement Award for outstanding service to St. Andrew's School.

In her days as a student at St. Andrews in Middletown, Del., Pearce Yetman led her team to State Championships in 1998 and 1999, earning First-Team All-Conference and All-State honors while helping St. Andrews to 34 consecutive victories. She also She also garnered several individual awards including the Coach's Award and Most Dynamic Player and Most Valuable Player honors in lacrosse, field hockey, and basketball.

Arguably the best player in St. Andrew's history, Pearce Yetman still holds school-records for career goals (275), points in a game (11), goals in a game (10), as well as points and goals in a season (133 and 108 in 2000).

Pearce Yetman and her husband, Alden, currently reside in Chestertown, Md., with their children, Sam and Max. Her brother, Tommy, is currently the head men's lacrosse coach at Capital Athletic Conference rival Frostburg State.
