Marymount Topples Neumann in ECAC Women's Lacrosse First Round

The fourth-seeded Marymount women's lacrosse team opened up the 2016 ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship on Wednesday afternoon with a 19-5 first-round decision over fifth-seeded Neumann behind record-setting days by several Saints.

The victory not only sealed up a spot for the Saints in the semifinals on Saturday, but it also marked the team's 10th win of the season. It is just the second time in program history that MU has reached double-digit wins with the other time being back in 2003 when the Saints finished the season with a 12-7 overall record.

Marymount will now hit the road to top-seeded Muhlenberg for the rest of the championship, taking on the Mules in a semifinal matchup on Saturday at noon. Should the Saints advance past Muhlenberg, they will return to the turf the following day for the title game at 3 p.m.

Sophomore Abby Wescott crushed her career high in points for the game, leading the way for the blue and white with 10 points off three goals and seven assists. The seven helpers push her single-season program best to 50 for the year, good enough for seventh in the country, while her 10 points move her to 81 for the year, placing her in sole possession of second in program history.

Two Saints added five-point games off the sticks of senior Stephanie Keane (3 goals, 2 assists) and freshman Bridget Odom (4 goals, 1 assist). Keane, an attacker and captain for MU, also cracked a milestone in her career, using her first assist of the game to reach her 100th point.
