CNU’s Iapicca, Chadwick Sweep C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2024 women's lacrosse season. Christopher Newport's Julia Iapicca earned C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Captains Hadley Chadwick received C2C Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Julia Iapicca, Christopher Newport

Julia Iapicca notched 10 goals while leading Christopher Newport to a pair of victories over nationally-ranked opponents last week. At No. 7 Washington & Lee on Wednesday, she deposited four goals, all of which came in the second half as the Captains held off a late comeback by the Generals. Three days later, she matched her career-high with six goals against No. 16 Roanoke on Saturday. Her six strikes marked the second-highest total by a Captain against a top-20 foe in program history. Meanwhile, three of her goals came in the fourth quarter as CNU overcame a three-goal deficit in the final 15 minutes to notch the come-from-behind victory. Her fifth goal of the game was the go-ahead strike with seven minutes left in regulation, while she added the final nail in the waning moments to seal the win. Along with her offensive efforts, she also added four caused turnovers, four ground balls, and four draw controls against the Maroons. With that performance, she became the first player in program history to record at least four takeaways, four rollers, four draws, and four goals in a single game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hadley Chadwick, Christopher Newport

Hadley Chadwick posted two wins against top-25 opponents while anchoring Christopher Newport between the pipes last week. On Wednesday in the season opener at No. 7 Washington and Lee, the sophomore goalie pocketed nine saves, including the 100th of her career. During the 12-10 win, six of her stops came in the final 30 minutes, four were on free-position attempts, and three prevented W&L from taking a lead in the first half. On Saturday, she came with eight more stops, including three on eight-meter attempts, during an 11-9 triumph over No. 16 Roanoke. After the Captains secured a 10-9 lead in the 53rd minute, she stoned a free-position attempt that would have evened the score at 10 before adding her final save with 30 seconds remaining in regulation to seal the win.
