CNU’s Winters, Guidi Sweep C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2024 women's lacrosse season. Christopher Newport's Kelsey Winters captured C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Captains Syd Guidi earned C2C Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kelsey Winters, Christopher Newport

In CNU's lone appearance of the week, Kelsey Winters registered a season-high nine points during a 19-4 win at Lynchburg on Saturday. Against the Hornets, she handed out seven assists, which equaled the seventh-highest total in school history. Doing most of her damage in the early going, she notched six points in the opening period, including the 387th of her career. That established a new Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference record, breaking the previous mark of 386 set by Mary Washington's Catherine Kennedy from 2009-12. Later, Winters came back with two more helpers and a goal over the final three frames to wrap up the convincing victory. With her performance, she finished the week with 390 career points, moving into the top-20 on the all-time Division III charts. Meanwhile, her 262 career assists place her second in Division III lore and third in the history of collegiate lacrosse.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Syd Guidi, Christopher Newport

Guidi controlled possession while starring on the draw during CNU's 19-4 win at Lynchburg on Saturday. During the bout, she kept the ball away from the Hornets while securing 14 draw controls, which tied the single-game school record. In the first half, she controlled eight of the draws as CNU built a 15-2 advantage. Just as dominant over the final 30 minutes, she secured six of the game's eight draws during the last two quarters while also forcing a turnover to help quiet Lynchburg's attack. Meanwhile, on the offensive side, Guidi landed four goals of her own, which marked her seventh straight hat-trick.
