Salisbury’s Hanzsche, Held Claim C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 12th week of the 2024 women's lacrosse season. Salisbury's Mary Hanzsche captured C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Sea Gulls Natalie Held was named C2C Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mary Hanzsche, Salisbury

Mary Hanzsche provided the fifth-ranked Sea Gulls with excellence amidst two important C2C matchups. She began the week with two goals, one assist, and two ground balls in a 19-9 road win over Mary Washington before tying her career-high with seven points against No. 21 CNU, firing four goals on five shots and distributing three helpers. She finished the week with 10 points, including six goals on eight shots.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Natalie Held, Salisbury

Natalie Held continued to headline a Sea Gull defense that ranks 24th nationally allowing just 8.0 goals per game. She opened the slate with a game-high six draw controls while adding two ground balls and causing a turnover at Mary Washington on Wednesday before corralling four ground balls and causing a pair of miscues in Saturday's 18-11 triumph over No. 21 CNU.

OFFENSE: Syd Guidi, Christopher Newport

DEFENSE: Julia Iapicca, Christopher Newport


C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Syd Guidi led Christopher Newport with four goals against Salisbury on Saturday, including the opening strike in the second minute of action and a go-ahead tally early in the third stanza. She also pocketed four draw controls. With that performance, she eclipsed 50 goals and 50 draw controls this year, becoming just the third player in program history to register 50 of each in the same season… Christopher Newport's Julia Iapicca posted a team-high four ground balls and two takeaways against Salisbury on Saturday. With that performance, she became just the sixth Captain to eclipse 30 caused turnovers in a single season. Her 31 strips now place her fifth on the program's all-time charts. Along with her work on the back end, she also scored twice and added a pair of draw controls.
