Briefly, what is your background in the sport you play? I have played soccer most of my life. I played on competitive club teams as an outside mid-fielder but in my last year of club soccer I transitioned to a center mid. I have continued played as a center mid throughout my college career.
What is your major in college, and what is the most important thing you learned in that discipline? I am an Exercise and Sports Science major. The most important thing I have learned is how to prepare my body for games with the right nutrition and how to train appropriately in the off-season.
What is your favorite spot on campus (and why)? My favorite spot on campus is the upper fields. Not many people go up there unless they have to so it's quiet where I can think and have a moment alone, while it overlooks most of campus giving an amazing view.
Outside of your home and campus, where is your favorite place visit (and why)? Swallow Falls is my favorite place to visit off campus because it is a great place to hike and it's a beautiful place to visit.
Briefly describe the most memorable experience during your collegiate athletic career. My most memorable experience was playing our last game last season at John's Hopkins stadium in the NCAAs. It is an incredible field with the video board. We were up 3-0 in the first 13 minutes. It was one of the best games we played as a team. Even as the game went on and the score became tighter we still played as a team and kept our positive attitudes. We ended up losing in PKs. However, the experience of the field and the experience of closeness of the team is one I will never forget.
Other than your family members, who was the most influential person in your life (and why)? The most influential person in my life was my trainer, Ali. She pushed me into becoming a better player at a young age, not only with the technical side of soccer but making me mentally tough. I took everything I learned from her and worked on it daily.
What is the most important societal issue facing college students (and why)? Drinking too heavily and trying to impress people is causing students to make poor decisions. This can cause student dropout rates to increase and potentially ruin their life.
If you could change any one item in the world (in your personal life, school, community, amateur or professional sports, national/international issue, etc.), what would it be, why, and how would you do it? I would help get homeless people off the streets. I would use old freight cars/boxes that are not being used, just sitting in train stops, to build a shelter for homeless people. This would at least help give them a roof over their heads.
What is your favorite form of entertainment (and why)? I enjoy listening to music because I can escape from the hustle and bustle of a college campus. With my headphones in I get peace to myself for a short time.
If you could give one piece of advice to elementary school children, what would that advice be? Caring about schoolwork and learning as much as possible are great habits to form in your studies.
Name three (3) people, real or fictional, living or dead, that you'd like to have dinner with (and why)? Dr. Seuss. Growing up with and still today his creativity and free living outlooks on life teach me there is a lighter side to life and to not take things so seriously all the time.
Ray Lewis is one of the most inspirational athletes of all time. He has always had my attention to give everything I have and push forward every chance I get.
Lastly I would like to have dinner with Jennifer Aniston because not only is she an actor but also a down to earth humanitarian who does extra work with Saint Jude's Hospitals and many other non-profit organizations. I could learn a lot from her.
