Christopher Newport’s Gough, Sidaway Capture C2C Women's Soccer Player of the Week Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2023 women's soccer season. Christopher Newport's Kyleigh Gough claimed C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Captains Amy Sidaway was named C2C Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kyleigh Gough, Christopher Newport

Scored the game-winning goal against No. 17 Swarthmore in a 1-0 victory and added another tally against Roanoke to finish the week with two scores ... She put two of her three total attempts on target and took over the scoring lead for the Captains with 11 points on four goals and three assists... Now has three game winners including two against nationally-ranked competition ... Converted her second penalty kick of the season.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Amy Sidaway, Christopher Newport

Earned a pair of wins this week, including a shutout over No. 17 Swarthmore College ... Also earned a combined shutout against Roanoke in the week's second game ... Against Swarthmore, Sidaway and the Captains defense set a new program record for consecutive shutout minutes ... The rookie goalkeeper has started in net for all eight games during the streak ... This week, she made five saves against the Garnet and added one more in 77 minutes against Roanoke... She now has a 0.09 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage, ranking second in the nation in both categories.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

On a penalty kick, Mary Washington's Madison Bauserman scored the lone goal in the Eagles' 1-0 win over Salisbury on Saturday. She scored on her only shot -- recording her first game-winner of the season… UC Santa Cruz sophomore Camille Anneet had her first career multi-goal game with a brace in Saturday's 4-1 win at Redlands. The victory broke a five-game losing streak at Redlands. On Sunday, Anneet had the opening assist in Sunday's 2-1 win at Whittier that gave UC Santa Cruz a weekend sweep and 10-win season. It was Anneet's eighth assist of the year, and she now has the program's most in a decade.  Took four shots in loss to Dominican to help Banana Slugs to a 2-1 mark for the week… Pratt's Siena Sujitno scored the lone goal in a road loss at Sage on Wednesday, assembling her second four-game goal-scoring streak of the season, which was halted in Saturday's loss at Centenary. Sujitno leads the C2C with 18 goals… Sydney Alexander recorded three saves in the first 45 minutes of Mary Washington's 1-0 win over Salisbury on Saturday. She recorded a shutout first half before she was lifted to begin the second half… UC Santa Cruz's Kristi Truong played 263 of a possible 270 minutes, including both games of a Los Angeles sweep where the opposition was allowed just six shots on goal. Truong also provided the assist on the second goal in the 2-1 win over Whittier that gave the Banana Slugs 10 wins on the season.
