Marymount Senior Anna Macedonia And St. Mary's Junior Kelly Heyde Compete On First Day Of 2012 NCAA Championships

Marymount senior Anna Macedonia and St. Mary's junior Kelly Heyde competed on the first day of the 2012 NCAA Women's Swimming championships in Indianapolis, Ind., but neither qualified for the championship races in their respective events.

Macedonia, the two-time CAC Women's Swimmer of the Year, placed 29th overall out of 44 swimmers in the 50 freestyle in 24.04.  Her qualifying time was 23.80.

Heyde, the 2010 CAC Rookie of the Year, tied Lydia Feldman of St. Olaf for 40th place out of 46 swimmers in the 200 individual medley in 2:11.50.  Heyde's qualifying time was 2:08.26.

Mary Washington's Megan DeSmit and Amber Kerico also qualified to compete in the NCAA Championships, but did not compete in any of Wednesday's Day 1 events.
