Christopher Newport's Tim Daly Named NABC First-Team All-America

Christopher Newport senior center Tim Daly was named first team All-America Thursday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Daly, a senior center from Richmond, was selected the Player of the Year in the Capital Athletic Conference this season. He averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per game this season for the Captains.

Daly becomes just the fourth first team All-America selection in the 50-year history of CNU men's basketball, joining Lamont Strothers, Antoine Sinclair and Marcus Carter, who was a first team All-America selection last season, the first-ever sophomore to achieve the honor in men's basketball history.

Daly's most memorable moments both came against Salisbury, beating the Sea Gulls at the foul line two seasons ago in Salisbury and winning the CAC Championship Game this season at the Freeman Center with a 19-footer in the final seconds over the Gulls. This Saturday in Salem, Daly will suit up in the Reese's College Senior All-Star Game at the Salem Civic Center during Final Four weekend. The game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Daly eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career this season on December 11th vs. York College. He concluded his career with 1283 points, 14th on the all-time scoring list at CNU.

He becomes the 13th different Captain to achieve All-America status at any level.
