Mary Washington Women's Tennis Sweeps Grove City, 5-0, in NCAA Tournament First Round

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team swept a 5-0 decision from Grove City College on Friday at the Battleground in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

The Eagles improve to 16-7 on the season, and will advance to face Vassar College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the NCAA Second Round.

On Friday, the Eagles cruised through doubles, with Cassie Bowman and Anna Richman winning at three doubles, 8-1, followed by the two doubles tandem of Lindsay Raulston and Casey Malcolm, who won 8-0.

Michelle Meadows and Jocelyn Lewis made it a sweep of doubles, winning 8-3 at one.

In singles, UMW won the first set at all six singles matches, with Bowman winning, 6-0, 6-0 at three, and Malcolm clinched the match at six, winning 6-0, 6-3.
