Mary Washington & Christopher Newport Prevail; CAC Women's Tennis Championship Match Finalized

The CAC Women's Tennis Tournament Championship match is set as both Mary Washington and Christopher Newport earned semifinal shutout victories on Wednesday (May 1) afternoon. The title contest is slated for 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 on the campus of the University of Mary Washington. 

The top-seeded Mary Washington Eagles advanced to the championship match after earning three points in the doubles portion, before Rachel Cooper won at No. 6 singles and Daniella Mirabella clinched the match at No. 4 singles. UMW aims to clinch their 16th straight CAC title on Saturday.

The Captains, the No. 2 seed, swept all three doubles matches before clinching the match with victories at No. 1 singles thanks to Johanna Ranta-aho and No. 5 singles from Amanda Yermal. CNU will be looking to claim its first CAC women's tennis championship.

This marks the fifth straight season UMW and CNU will meet for the CAC Women's Tennis Championship.
