St. Marys junior outside hitter KATIE EWING (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after recording 30 kills and posting a .455 hitting percentage in three wins for the Seahawks. Ewing, who reached double digs in kills twice last week, also had five digs and four total blocks in a 3-0 week for SMC.
Salisbury's Rachel Downes Named CAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

Salisbury junior outside hitter RACHEL DOWNES (Salisbury, Md./Salisbury Christian) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Sea Gulls to a 4-0 week, including a road victory over St. Marys to clinch the top seed in the CAC playoffs. Downs had 13 kills and 17 digs in the win over SMC for her first of three-straight double-doubles to help Salisbury extend its win streak to 32 matches, which is the 10th-longest run in Div. III history.

Salisbury Senior Stacey Krebs Named CAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

Salisbury senior outside hitter STACEY KREBS (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Sea Gulls to a 3-0 CAC win over Stevenson Tuesday and the championship of the Green Terror Tournament over the weekend at McDaniel. The 2007 CAC Player of the Year had 61 kills, eight service aces and 44 digs on the week, including a 13-kill performance with no errors against Stevenson.
Stevenson Junior Brittany Umetin Named CAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

Stevenson junior setter BRITTANY UMETIN (Havre de Grace, Md./Mt. Zion) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after distributing 98 assists, contributing 22 digs, six blocks and five kills for the 3-0 Mustangs. The key victory, in which Umetin had 30 assists, three kills, two blocks and five digs, was a shutout vs. Mary Washington, which moved Stevenson into third place in the CAC standings.
Marymount Senior Christina LaVigna Named CAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

Marymount senior hitter CHRISTINA LaVIGNA (East Morachies, N.Y./Westhampton) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after hitting .468 for the week and leading the Saints to their first two CAC wins of the season. LaVigna registed 11 kills and added nine digs in a shutout win over Hood, then followed up with 16 kills and seven digs in another shutout win at Wesley to put Marymount into a tie for fourth place in the CAC.

Salisbury junior middle hitter NICOLE MASSARELLI (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks after leading the Sea Gulls to five more wins, including a CAC decision over Marymount and the championship of the Sea Gulls Classic. She was named MVP of the tournament after contributing double-digit kills in all tournament matches and finishing the week with 46 kills.

Massarelli earned All-Tournament team recognition after compiling a .462 hitting percentage, including a 17-for-31 performance with two assists and two solo blocks against Richard Stockton.
