Salisbury’s Eustace, Rail Named C2C Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2023 women's volleyball season. Salisbury's Gwen Eustace claimed C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Sea Gulls Grace Rail was tabbed C2C Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gwen Eustace, Salisbury

Gwen Eustace landed 14 kills against four errors in the Sea Gulls' win at No. 22 Mary Washington on Saturday. Eustace swung .435 for the match to help SU beat the Eagles for the second time this season.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grace Rail, Salisbury

Grace Rail averaged six digs per set in the Sea Gulls' wins over Trinity (D.C.) and Mary Washington for the week. In the Mary Washington match, Rail chased down 33 digs (8.25 per set) to help SU beat the Eagles for the second time this season. Against Trinity, she broke a Salisbury record with 13 service aces in the match.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Christopher Newport's Alyssa Dozier hit double-digit kills in all four matches this week...Totaled 58 kills with a .324 hitting percentage - hit >.300 in three of her four matches...Helped the Captains total 72 kills in the win over Washington & Lee, which is the most kills in a match since 2005 and the most kills in a match in the history of the Freeman Center… Olivia Julich helped Pratt to a pair of convincing victories on the week with their lone loss in a close five-set affair. Averaged 3.9 kills per set on the week while hitting .200. Nearly registered double-digit kills in all three matches on the week slamming nine against CCNY and 12 against York (N.Y.) in straight-set wins. Recorded career-highs of 18 kills and 14 digs for a double-double effort on Saturday in a 3-2 loss to St. Joseph's (L.I.) … In a defeat at Rockford, Brianna Ecker totaled 11 kills and 27 digs. She is the all-time Mount Mary leader in both categories and sits just 17 kills short of the career benchmark of 1,000… Senior Jordan Lyons led #22 Mary Washington to a pair of wins in three matches this week, making 44 receptions with just two errors, as well as 47 digs to lead the Eagle defense. In addition, she scored 29 kills and four service aces. She ranks in the top five in the conference in both kills and digs… Christopher Newport's Noelle Starr totaled more than 20 digs in all four matches this week...Had 40 digs in a win over Washington & Lee to set a Freeman Center record and post the second-most digs in a single match in school history...Averaged over six digs per set through the week, including eight digs per set in a five-set win over Washington & Lee… UC Santa Cruz's Emily Pasion averaged 4.24 digs a set during the week. Added five aces, including three combined in losses to top-ten foes Calvin and Hope. Moved to third all-time at UC Santa Cruz in career digs.
