Frostburg's Anne Patron Edges Mary Washington's Liz Green For Top Spot Among CAC Individuals In Cathcart Women's Chase

Salisbury placed five runners among the top 36 across the finish line to rank as the top CAC team at the annual Don Cathcart women's cross country race, but the battle for the top individual CAC runner went to Frostburg State's Anne Patron, who edged Mary Washington's Liz Green by just one second.

Patron, a junior, covered the 6K course in 22:33 to place seventh overall, 57 seconds off the first-place pace set by Rosi Mascoli of NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg.  Mascoli's time of 21:36 was 31 seconds faster than second-place finisher, ESU teammate Corinne Fitzgerald.

Green, a freshman, was one second behind Patron and crossed the finish line ahead of five other runners who were within two seconds in a tightly-paced group at the finish line.

The only other CAC finishers among the top 25 runners in the chase were Salisbury's Amy Ferro (17th, 22:55) and Kristin Stromberg (19th, 22:56).

In the team standings, Salisbury scored 127 points to finish third behind a pair of NCAA Division II teams - East Stroudsburg (52) and Mansfield (76).  CAC rival Mary Washington placed sixth in the team standings (170), followed by York (11th, 256), Frostburg State (13th, 344), Hood (14th, 410), Stevenson (17th, 471) and Wesley (no team score).

At Lehigh University's Paul Short chase, St. Mary's finished with a 27th-place finish out of 39 teams.  First-year Shannon Rafferty led the way with her 47th-place finish in 24:14, running a 6:31-mile pace.
