UC Santa Cruz Women’s Team, Two Men’s Individuals Qualify for NCAA Cross Country Championships

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships. 

The UC Santa Cruz women's team earned an at-large bid after finishing fourth (151 points) at the West Regional.  The Banana Slugs, who will make their second straight NCAA appearance, were paced by Helena Janku who finished ninth (22:37.1).

On the men's side, UCSC's Eric Jackson and Christopher Newport's Daniel Ferrante were selected.  Jackson placed eighth (24:53.3) in the West Regional, while Ferrante finished 18th (25:28.12) at the South Regional. 

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held this weekend.

Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.

Dickinson College is hosting the championships on Nov. 18 at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania. The men's race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the women's race at Noon Eastern.  A live web stream of the championships will occur on www.NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
