YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury swept this week's conference awards as seniors Pete Grasso and Jeff Oster collected CAC Baseball Player of the Week honors for March 21, 2017.

Salisbury senior Pete Grasso was named the CAC Player of the Week after hitting .667 (10-for-15) with 10 RBIs and seven runs scored in a 4-0 CAC week for the Sea Gulls with single-game wins over Marymount and Wesley and a doubleheader sweep of Mary Washington. Grasso posted a slugging percentage of .800 and an on-base percentage of .682. Two of his three RBIs against Wesley came in the bottom of the eighth inning, helping the Sea Gulls overcome an 8-6 deficit en route to a 9-8 win. Grasso also recorded his 200th career hit against Wesley.

Salisbury senior Jeff Oster collected CAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second straight week and third time this season after allowing no earned runs in a complete-game win against Mary Washington. Oster recorded nine strikeouts and allowed just two hits in his nine innings of work while walking one batter. It marked his third straight game with nine or more strikeouts.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury is receiving votes in both the D3baseball.com poll and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Collegiate Baseball poll ... Christopher Newport went 3-0 last week with CAC wins over Mary Washington and Frostburg State (DH). Thomas Packers pitched seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts and just two hits allowed in victory over Mary Washington. Brandon Ginch led the Captains at the plate, going 6-for-14 with three RBIs, a home run and two runs scored ... Mary Washington junior Reed Farrier turned in a stellar week for the Eagles, batting .400 with six hits in 15 at bats. He added three doubles on the week, including two in a win over Penn State Harrisburg ... Marymount played in just one game this past week due to the snow. Brandon Savage led the offense with two hits against Salisbury including a two-run home run ... Holden Marshall paced St. Mary's offensively in its only game of the week, going 2-for-4 with one run ... Southern Virginia's Riley Daniels led the team with a .500 average and 11 RBIs last week. He went 5-for-11 against Wesley with three home runs and all 11 RBIs in a sweep of the Wolverines ... Wesley sophomore Will Foster hit .375 last week including a three-run double against Salisbury ... Patrick Clement led York to a 3-0 week as he hit .455 with four runs scored, a triple and an RBI. For the season, Clement is hitting .429 with four runs scored, two RBI, four runs scored and a .571 slugging percentage. Will Grega earned a save and a win last week from the bullpen. He started the week by earning the save in York's 7-4 game one win over Southern Virginia, and closed out the week with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief in a 4-3 win over St. Mary's, securing the win. Grega struck out five on the week and had a 0.00 ERA in 3.2 innings of work. Joel Kinney struck out four and scattered seven hits in 8.0 innings in a win over Southern Virginia. For the season, Kenney has made two starts as he is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in a team-high 14 innings. Kenney has struck out 12 and walked just four as opponents are hitting .220 against him.
