Salisbury Senior Courtney Jantzen and Mary Washington Freshman Jessica Cavolt Selected as CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Courtney Jantzen and Mary Washington freshman Jessica Cavolt were selected as the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Oct. 19, 2015. 

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior Courtney Jantzen was awarded as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in a pair of CAC victories last week. Jantzen found the back of the net twice against Wesley on Wednesday night, including the game's first goal in the 15th minute. In Salisbury's Saturday matchup against York, she scored the game-winner of a 2-0 victory. The score was Jantzen's 10th of the season and 50th of her career -- moving her into a tie for ninth in program history for career goals.

Mary Washington freshman Jessica Cavolt was picked as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after registering a pair of shutout wins in the cage for the Eagles last week, as UMW improved to 11-3 on the season. She made six saves in a 1-0 win at Dickinson on Tuesday, before making a pair of stops in a 2-0 win at St. Mary's in CAC action on Saturday.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE 

The busiest week of CAC action thus far awaits as six conference matchups will take place this week ... Salisbury is ranked No. 5 in the Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Oct. 13 National Rankings, while Christopher Newport is No. 13 and Mary Washington is No. 15 ... CNU (3-0), Mary Washington (3-0) and Salisbury (2-0) remain unbeaten in conference play ... CNU fell to Tufts, 2-1, and defeated Denison, 3-2, in a pair of close non-conference matchups last week ... Frostburg State went 1-2 last week, falling to Lynchburg, 5-1, and Shenandoah, 1-0, before defeating Wesley 3-2 in CAC action on Sunday ... St. Mary's lost a pair of close CAC battles, dropping a 2-1 decision at York and a 2-0 matchup vs. Mary Washington ... York goalkeeper Eve Hauptle posted a .813 save percentage and a 1.53 goals against average for the week, totaling four saves in the 2-1 win over St. Mary's and posting nine saves in the loss to Salisbury. Autumn Mallory notched an assist and score the game-winner for the Spartans against St. Mary's. Mallory now has seven goals and four assists on the year.
