YORK, Pa. -- Southern Virginia senior Kevin Walker was awarded as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 7, 2015.

Southern Virginia senior Kevin Walker was awarded as the CAC Player of the Week after leading the Knights to a 2-0 week with CAC victories over Marymount and York. In a 97-88 double-overtime victory over Marymount, Walker exploded for a career-high 30 points along with seven rebounds, six assists, three steals, three blocks and five three-pointers. With the Knights trailing by three with less than 10 seconds left in regulation, Walker got fouled behind the arc and hit a trio of free throws to tie the game and force overtime. For the week, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.4% from the field.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

In the D3hoops.com Week 1 National Rankings, Salisbury is ranked 17th and Christopher Newport is ranked 21st ... Salisbury (5-0) and Christopher Newport (4-0) remain unbeaten on the year ... CNU remains the lone unbeaten team with a 6-0 overall record and 3-0 mark in conference play, while Mary Washington and Southern Virginia are each 2-0 in CAC contests ... CNU's Aaron McFarland led the Captains to two CAC victories this week, and scored a career-high 27 points in CNU's win over Salisbury. The sophomore comes off the bench and has helped the Captains to their first 6-0 start since the 2001-2002 season ... Junior forward John Lutkenhaus led Mary Washington to a pair of CAC wins this week to open the conference schedule.  He scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds with four steals as the Eagles topped St. Mary's on Wednesday, 70-60. On Saturday, he led the Eagles in scoring, rebounding, and assists, with 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists as the Eagles topped Penn State Harrisburg. For the week, he averaged 18.5 PPG, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals, while shooting 57.1% from the field with six three pointers ... Marymount's Dimitri Rucker averaged 19 points per game last week, posting a career-high 23 points on Wednesday against Southern Virginia. Rucker currently averages 2.9 blocks per game, which ranks second in the conference ... Marsalis Hurley notched a pair of near double-doubles in a 1-1 week for St. Mary's. Hurley started the week with a season-best 11 rebounds and eight points in a loss at Mary Washington before tallying a season-high 11 points and nine boards in the Seahawks' first CAC win of the season over Wesley. Tanner Brooks delivered the game-winning bucket for the Seahawks against Wesley with just over 18 seconds remaining ... Salisbury's Justin Witmer led the Sea Gulls in a 1-1 CAC week, posting the program's largest margin of victory since 2001 against Frostburg State on Saturday, winning by 42 points. Witmer averaged 12.5 points per game and shot 50% from three-point land ... Wesley's Anthony Bowers averaged 13.5 points per game last week on 52.2% shooting ... York's Dalton Myers helped the Spartans to a 1-1 week in conference play, including a game-high 25 points in a 78-69 win over Wesley. For the season, Myers leads the Spartans in scoring at 17.7 points per game and is pulling in 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 63% from the field and 77.8% from the line. Matt Scamuffo tallied a career-high 24 points in the Spartans' Wednesday win over Wesley. Scamuffo has set his career high in scoring three different times this season. He was 9-for-14 from the floor for the week and 13-for-16 from the line in the Spartans' two games this week.
