FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Frostburg State junior Edwin Cole was named the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 4, 2017.

Frostburg State junior Edwin Cole was named the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 7.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for the Bobcats, including a road victory at 17th-ranked Christopher Newport. In the overtime win over CNU, Cole nearly posted a rare version of a triple-double with nine points, 12 boards and eight blocks. He also shot 53.8% (7-for-13) from the field on the week. Cole was a force on the offensive glass, with nearly half of his rebounds (6.0) coming on the offensive side of the court.

Christopher Newport is ranked No. 17 by D3hoops.com ... CNU senior Aaron McFarland led the Captains with 26 points in a home victory over Salisbury and followed with 17 in a home loss to Frostburg State ... Freshman Drew Johnson set a new career high with 32 points, including 10 three-point baskets, in UMW's 89-73 win over St. Mary's on Wednesday. He connected for 10-16 three pointers, and made 11-18 from the field overall ... Marymount senior Dimitri Rucker nearly averaged a double double with 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in two CAC victories last week against Southern Virginia and St. Mary's. Rucker tied a season-high with 18 points against Southern Virginia and tallied a career-high 13 boards vs. St. Mary's ... Spencer Schultz averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in an 0-2 week. Schultz collected his second 20-point game of the season with a season-best 24 points on a season-best 10 field goals made plus a season-high three steals against Marymount. Schultz has reached double figures in all but one game this season ... Braedon Dorsey turned in a solid week for Salisbury, netting 25 total points in two games. He tallied a season-high 16 points against Penn State Harrisburg, scoring all 16 in the second half to help the Sea Gulls earn a 76-70 victory over the visiting Lions ... Southern Virginia senior Aarun Rumbaugh averaged a double-double in a 1-1 week with 12.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game ... He posted an 11-point, 13-rebound game in win over Wesley and notched 13 points in narrow loss at Marymount ... Wesley junior Evan Anderson tallied 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting on the week, including knocking down 4-of-6 from three-point range against York ... York senior forward Blayde Reich led the Spartans to a pair of CAC wins as the Spartans improved to 5-0 for the year. Reich began the week with a career-high 30 points along with six rebounds in the 97-79 road win at Wesley. He was 12-for-15 from the floor including 3-for-6 from three and 3-for-4 from the line in the career night. Reich followed that with a game-high 16 points in the rugged 64-61 win over a 5-1 Mary Washington squad on Saturday afternoon. Reich scored 14 of his 16 points in the decisive second half as York overcame a pair of double digit deficits. Reich also had nine rebounds, five assists and a steal in the victory over the Eagles. For the week, Reich averaged 23 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 58.1% from the floor, 33.3% from three and 70% from the charity stripe for the week. For the season, Reich leads the Spartans in scoring as he is averaging 19.4 points per game. He is also York's top rebounder at 7.0 caroms per game. He is shooting 57.6% from the floor and 70.8% from the free throw line.
