York College freshman Adam Dupler was named the Player of the Year and the Rookie of the Year and was joined by three teammates and Spartan coach Jeff Gamber on the awards podium when the 2009 All-CAC Golf team was introduced Sunday.

York swept the 2009 CAC Golf Championship on Sunday, winning the team's first team title, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year Sunday at Piney Branch Golf Club. The Spartans totaled a second round 303 and won the championship by 16 strokes over inaugural champion and 2008 NCAA championship participant Wesley.

York has four players in the top-10, including three under 80, as the Spartans are in first place and hold a seven-stroke lead over Marymount (Va.) and defending champion Wesley following the opening round of the 2009 CAC Golf Championship at Piney Branch Golf Club. Wesley and Marymount are tied for second at 318 followed by host Stevenson who fired a 333.

Wesley College won the first CAC Golf championship in 2008, and went on to gain a bid to the NCAA Championship, where the Wolverines placed seventh in the final team standings. The Wolverines will certainly be among the favorites when the teams assemble for the 2009 CAC Championship Saturday (4/25) and Sunday (4/26) at Piney Branch C.C. in Hempstead, Md.

Wesley junior ROB ZIMMERER (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) and York freshman ANDREW SCHMEHL (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) were named the CAC Golf Co-Athletes of the Week. Zimmerer shot a one-over-par 72 to tie for second place and lead the Wolverines to a tie for second in the team standings at the 2009 Bent Creek Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. Schmehl carding a three-over-par 74 to lead the Spartans to the team title Glenmaura National College Invitational, hosted by King’s College. Earlier in the week, Schmehl posted a five-over-par 76 to tie for 11th place in the 82-player Bent Creek Invitational at F&M.

York senior JIMMY DeCASTRO (Mantoloking, N.J./Gov. Livingston) was named the CAC Golf Athlete of the Week after leading the Spartans to their third tournament championship of the 2008-09 season. DeCastro carded a six-over-par 77 to tie for sixth place out of 99 players in the Elizabethtown Spring Invitational at Hershey East C.C.

Marymount seniors KEVIN THOMSEN (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) and THOMAS DONOVAN (Fairfax, Va./Bishop O’Connell) were named the CAC Golf Co-Athletes of the Week after each carded a three-over-par 75 to tie for second place, two shots off the pace, at the York Tournament. Thomsen and Donovan helped the Saints finish second in the team standings, just three shots behind Messiah College.

Stevenson junior MATT LUKEHART (Bel Air, Md./Mt. Carmel) was named the CAC Golf Athlete of the Week after registering a one-over-par 73 to tie for first place at the Gettysburg Spring Invitational, helping the Mustangs place ninth in the team standings. Lukehart has registered the team’s top three rounds of the spring season and is averaging 77.5 per round this year.
