Frostburg State Junior Christian March Named CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Second Time

Frostburg State junior Christian March was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after collecting three first-place finishes and breaking a pool record last Saturday in a CAC dual meet against Salisbury. March won the 50-meter freestyle (24.90), 100-meter freestyle (55.35), and 100-meter breaststroke (1:06.92). His time in the 100-meter breaststroke set a new Salisbury pool record, and the converted time (1:00.62) ranks first in the CAC and 69th nationally.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Mary Washington and York are both 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in CAC meets ... In CAC action last week, Salisbury defeated Frostburg State 146-59, York defeated St. Mary's 130-75, and Mary Washington defeated Marymount 157-75 ... Freshman Noah Carpenter led Mary Washington to a 157-75 win at Marymount on Saturday, finishing first in both the 200 yard backstroke at 2:04.05 and the 200 IM, at 2:03.36 ... Marymount sophomore Isaiah Jones grabbed two first-place finishes through two meets for the Saints. Racing in just one individual event against Gallaudet on Friday, he grabbed a top finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.50, a whole second ahead of the second-place finisher. He followed it up the next day in the Saints' home opener against the reigning conference champion Mary Washington, sealing up just one of the two total Saints' victories on the day in the 100-yard free with a time of 49.48, less than a second shy of notching a spot on the program's all-time record list ... St. Mary's senior captain Matt Walchuck contributed three gold medals in the Seahawks non-conference defeat to Randolph-Macon, and notched two golds and a silver against York ... Salisbury sophomore Peter Moyer won three events against Frostburg State - 800-meter freestyle (8:22.5), 200-meter freestyle (1:59.14; pool record), and 400-meter freestyle (4:38.52) ... Morgan Schreiber led York to a 130-75 win over St. Mary's on Saturday in the Spartans' lone meet for the week. Schreiber earned an individual win in the 100 backstroke in 54.21, giving him the top two 100 backstroke times in the CAC this season. Schreiber also swam lead-off for the Spartans winning 200 medley relay team as the combined to post a time of 1:39.22. Schreiber has four individual wins for the 2016-17 season.
