York junior Tim Hartung placed fifth overall in Saturday’s Mid-East Fegional race and earned a return trip to the NCAA Division III men’s cross country championship race, to be held Nov. 17 in Terre Haute, Ind. York placed seventh in the regional team standings.

York junior Tim Hartung, freshman Carus Cookman and coach Erick Camodeca swept the individual honors, helping the Spartans win their second-straight title and dominate the 2012 All-CAC Men’s Cross Country team. York placed five runners among the top 15 at the CAC Championship to earn five spots on the All-CAC squad.

Frostburg State, Marymount, Salisbury, & Southern Virginia contested at the Gettysburg Invitational. Salisbury placed 4th, Frostburg in 21st, Marymount 31st, and Southern Virginia in 32nd. Frostburg State, Mary Washington, Salisbury, Wesley and York will remain inactive until the CAC Championship meet in Frostburg State on Oct. 27th.

St. Mary’s was the leader of the pack when discussing CAC participation in the Goucher Classic Saturday. The Seahawks compiled 86 points to finish behind NCAA Division I Navy and Johns Hopkins, but ahead of York and Mary Washington, in the team standings.

Six of the seven CAC schools competed this weekend at Frostburg University for the Frostburg State University Invitational. This is the same site where the conference championships will be held later this fall on October 27th. Men ran the 8K course while the women ran a 6K.

Frostburg placed 7th overall this past weekend at the Waynesburg Invitational. Senior Gavin Caupp placed 8th overall, his first top 10 finish since his freshman season in 2009. Caupp achieved the 8th place finish with a time of 27:34.4. He was closely Junior Patrick Mead less than a minute later at 28:25.0 for a 17th place finish. Frostburg will be inactive next week, but will host the Frostburg State University Invitational on September 22nd.

Mary Washington outdueled host Salisbury at the season-opening men's cross country meet at Winter Place Park Saturday. In a meet that included four of the seven CAC teams, UMW placed fourth out of 10 teams while Salisbury was fifth.
