YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Grayson Reid was honored as the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 20, 2015.

Christopher Newport sophomore Grayson Reid was named the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after leading the Captains with a time of 25:47 in the 8k at the CNU Invitational. Reid's performance placed him second among Division III competitors and fifth among all entrants at the meet. Guided by Reid's efforts, the Captains finished first among Division III teams and second overall behind only William & Mary.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

This past week served as the final tune-up to the 2015 CAC Championship for all but two CAC squads ... Christopher Newport (3rd) and Mary Washington (8th) are ranked in the USTFCCCA South/Southeast Regional rankings, while York is 9th in the Mideast Region ... Xavier Alvarez was Frostburg State top finisher as nine Bobcats set season-best marks at the Hood College Open ... Mary Washington junior Ben Sorenson finished third overall at the NCAA South/Southeast Preview Meet at 26:36 over the 8K course. Mary Washington finished second as a team in the 10-team race ... Aidan Hennessey paced St. Mary's to a third-place finish at the Hood College Open. Hennessey ran the 7.5 K course in 26:13.5 to finish 13th out of 89 runners and was the seventh Division III runner to cross the finish line ... Connor Hesselbirg led Salisbury to its second meet win of the season, claiming the collegiate title at the Gettysburg Invitational. Hesselbirg finished 13th overall and ninth among Division III runners with a time of 26:31.3 ... York sophomore Grant Dell led the Spartans in 56th place with a personal-best time of 25:57.85 at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan. It marked the first time Dell has broken the 26-minute mark in his career. The Spartans finished 14th out of 24 teams in a field with several nationally and regionally ranked squads.
